Ohio State center Billy Price suffered an incomplete tear of his left pectoral muscle during his bench-press workout at the NFL combine, he said Friday.
Price, a two-time All-American who is projected as a possible first-round pick, said he felt a little pop on after his third rep and immediately stopped. Indianapolis Colts doctors and trainers then looked at him, and he received his MRI results Friday morning.
While he is going to seek a second opinion, he said the injury is very minor and that he doesn’t believe he’ll miss time. He said he should be fine going into training camp.
It’s huge, Price said. Again, you look at guys who could have a complete pec tear. I have no bruising. … Yeah, definitely happy. It’s definitely something minor, not something that is going to make me lose time and something that could impact me going forward in the season.
Price said he won’t do any more drills at the combine.
The Eagles wouldn’t have become Super Bowl champions had they not invested in No. 1 go-to guy Alshon Jeffery and speedy deep threat Torrey Smith last offseason. The Rams changed their passing game fortunes by signing Robert Woods. The 49ers found good help in both Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin.
That said, the position typically has been more buyer beware than surefire hits on the open market. For every Jeffery, Woods and Garcon, there’s a Terrelle Pryor, DeSean Jackson and Kenny Britt.
It’s all about finding the right personality and fit for a scheme and a quarterback, and overall, balancing worthy splurging with more calculated spending. There are a few top-flight options in the 2018 class of free-agent wide receivers, but there are more sneaky values.
The Browns transitioned to a 4-3 under Gregg Williams last season and found their thumping middle linebacker in Joe Schobert. The outside, however, was an issue with both Christian Kirksey and Jamie Collins Sr. not playing well in the scheme.

Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin is in for quite a battle.
Malkin has an amazing 20 goals and 37 points since Jan. 1. He has 34 goals this season, tied with fellow Russian Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals for the league lead.
Brassard has averaged 19 goals and 48 points over the past five seasons (including this one factored in). Three years ago, he had a career-best 27 goals with the New York Rangers, so his addition strengthens the Penguins down the middle.
The Panthers are coming off an incredibly emotional game as they rallied with two goals in the final four minutes to defeat the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Thursday night.
Vincent Trocheck scored a power-play goal with 18.7 seconds left, and that stood as the game-winner.
But there was major drama before the game, too.
The Canadiens are coming off a win over the New York Rangers on Thursday and the only intrigue about their season is who will still be on the roster after the NHL trade deadline Monday at 3 p.m. There is some speculation veteran forward Tomas Plekanec, who has an expiring contract, could be held out of the game Saturday in case of a trade being completed by the deadline Monday.
Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty has also been the subject of trade rumors.
The Canadiens are without two key players. Goaltender Carey Price is out indefinitely after being hit in the head with a puck against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. Goaltenders Antti Niemi and rookie Charlie Lindgren, called up when Price was injured, are handling the duties for the foreseeable future.
Defenseman Shea Weber is out for the rest of the season because of a torn tendon in his left foot. Veteran forward Andrew Shaw is also out with a lower-body injury.
With the injuries to veterans and the poor results, this season has become about the future for the Canadiens. Defenseman Noah Juulsen, 20, made his NHL debut in the 3-1 win against the Rangers.

Thaddeus Young just wanted to supply the Indiana Pacers with energy. He ended up giving them plenty of points, too.
Young scored 16 of his 20 points in the first half and the Pacers never trailed in a 116-93 rout of the hapless Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.
Backup forward Domantas Sabonis led the Pacers with 21 points and 13 rebounds for his 13th double-double of the season. Six Pacers scored in double digits.
“I think everybody has missed each other,” Sabonis said of the first game in nine days due to the All-Star break.
The lead was only four late in the third before Boston scored seven straight points — five by Irving. The Celtics broke the game open at the start of the fourth, pushing the lead to 20.
“I thought we were really good in the first quarter, and then we got ourselves back into it in the third, but we had one stretch where we had three wide-open 3s in about 30 seconds — (Reggie) Bullock had two on one possession — and we couldn’t knock any of them down,” Detroit coach Stan Van Gundy said. “Those are the stretches that kill comebacks.”
Philadelphia is going off as a -200 favorite to outscore all three NHL games on the card Sunday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The number of total goals scored in all three NHL games on Feb. 4 being higher than the number of points the Eagles score is a +150 underdog.
The Eagles are also a slight favorite at -130 to score more points than Villanova’s Jalen Brunson does against Seton Hall (-110) and a slight underdog at -110 to score more points than the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid (-130).
New England will put its Super Bowl score at -110 up against Kyrie Irving’s total number of points and assists against the Portland Trail Blazers at -150. And both quarterbacks are also locked into cross-sport prop bets with basketball players as well.
Tom Brady is a -130 favorite to have more catches than DeMar DeRozan has points Sunday at -110 and Nick Foles is a -130 favorite to have more completions than Kemba Walker has points Sunday at -110.

Newly acquired forward Larry Nance Jr. will be abandoning his No. 24 Cleveland Cavaliers jersey next week to don No. 22, the retired number that his father, Larry Nance Sr., wore when he played for the Cavs.
“My dad is a man of few words, so he kind of just let me know with a smile that he was excited,” Nance Jr. said.
He will continue to wear No. 24 for the next several games while his new No. 22 uniform is mocked up in all four colorways the Cavs wear. He’s expected to wear No. 22 for the first time Tuesday, when the Cavs host the Brooklyn Nets.
Anyone who has already purchased a No. 24 uniform for Nance Jr. will be able to exchange it for a No. 22 uniform at the Cavs team shop at Quicken Loans Arena, and there will also be information posted on Cavs.com about how to do the swap through the mail, according to a team spokesman.
Nance Jr. joked that his ode to his father won’t stop at just the jersey.
“This means short shorts and high white socks,” he said with a laugh. “Absolutely.”
“It’s a good day for me. Germany beat Canada in hockey, we won here, so I’m happy,” Theis said. “When I was at breakfast and (assistant coach) Scott Morrison walked in, I was just smiling, because he’s from Canada.”
Germany advanced to the Olympic title game with that victory , giving Theis some bragging rights before he even took the court against Detroit. Then the 6-foot-8 forward shot 8 of 10 from the field and had seven rebounds.
Kyrie Irving added 18 points for Boston. Jayson Tatum scored 11 of his 15 points in the first half.
The Celtics, who went into the All-Star break on a three-game losing streak, returned with a solid win on the road. Boston took control by outscoring the Pistons 38-21 in the second quarter.
With approximately $22.5 million in cap space available, the Cardinals aren’t in a position to sign Cousins in their current economic state. They’d have to make space available if they want a shot at giving Cousins the type of deal that could convince him to come to Arizona.

During Justin Timberlake’s halftime performance, one kid seemed cool as a cucumber that he was standing next to one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
Overshadowed by all the hoopla immediately following Super Bowl 52 was Rob Gronkowski declining to deny a report from Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio that offseason retirement by the star New England tight end “would not shock me at all.”
“I don’t know how you heard that but I’m definitely going to look at my future for sure,” Gronkowski said. “I’m going to sit down the next couple weeks and see where I’m at.”
This is the bombshell equivalent of Gronkowski using proper Spanish and proclaiming, “No me gusta ir de fiesta.” Could the NFL party really be over at age 28?
There’s reason to believe it may be so — the main one being the physical toll that football has taken on Gronkowski dating to his college days at Arizona. Back surgery forced Gronkowski to miss his entire junior season. That contributed to a prospect as talented as Gronkowski lasting into the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
“Nick has been the same guy that I can remember, going back to when we drafted him. He doesn’t change,” Pederson said. “He’s just a better quarterback today, he’s a smarter quarterback today, he’s a veteran quarterback today.”
It makes no sense for Pederson to reveal his initial thoughts on the subject, because for now, it’s more about crowning than controversy. Plus, it’s too early to start thinking about making the call without all the information. Foles will need to keep building his case in the offseason program when Wentz isn’t on the field. Wentz has to show he really has a chance to play come Week 1.
The Eagles hold all the cards. They can’t afford to move Foles as a supersub right now, and don’t need to, either. If Foles must play in 2018 and keeps playing well, the Eagles will have what every team wants at QB: two pleasing options.
Pederson, in talking to Wentz after the game, reminded him of his role in getting the Eagles to this point … while being cautiously optimistic he would be an option for them this time next season.
